It includes the dedicated theory and fully solved exercises.

Degree dissertation

The dissertation can be on in-depth examinations of the many topics studied during the courses on the Mechanics of Machines or on the research themes at the Research page.
In the dissertation the student has to prove the understanding of the mechanical/physical problem and to be able to model it accordingly, thus to be able to simulate the evolution or to analyse the spectral contents.
In particular:
- many degree of freedom system vibrations, torsional vibration, modal analysis
- dynamic structural analysis, stresses on components, fatigue life with complex dynamic loading patterns
- signal processing
- rotor and vehicle dynamics
- diagnostics of rotating machines and bearings (also with experimental data)
- wind turbine and mechanical energy storing applications
- spatial mechanisms
- coupling between engine and pay load, brakes/clutches, planetary gearboxes for speed regulation, optimisation of mechanical efficiency
- analysis of machines with great interest and industrial practice
